Histori

The Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, or Rancho , dates back to 1888 when poor patients from Los Angeles County Hospital moved to what became known as Los Angeles County Poor Farm. Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy began in the late 1920s. Rancho quickly developed after being established as a respiratory center for polio patients in 1951. In 1955, Dr. Vernon L. The Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center is one of the largest comprehensive medical rehabilitation centers in the US that provides services to various individuals with catastrophic diseases and injuries.

Rancho specializes in helping patients with disabilities regain skills and learn techniques to achieve basic activities of everyday life, and return to work or school whenever possible.

For more than two decades, Rancho was ranked "America's Best Hospital" in Rehabilitation Treatment by U.S.News & amp; World Report. In 2011, U.S.News ranked Downey, California-based hospital 7 among 138 hospitals rated in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Rancho is licensed for 207 beds. The clinic cares for about 4,000 inpatients and conducts 78,000 outpatient visits annually.
