Cabarrus College of Health Sciences is a private, not-for-profit university in Concord, North Carolina. This college offers five associate and three bachelor degree programs. More than 500 students are enrolled in the Cabarrus College degree program in the 2009-2010 academic year. Associate degree programs offered by colleges include: medical assistants, nursing, occupational therapy assistants, surgical technology and general associations in science degree. Undergraduate degree is offered in leadership and management of health services, medical imaging and nursing (RN to BSN, available online). The College was founded in 1942 by the Kabarrus County Hospital to meet the needs of registered nurses during World War II.
In 1995, Cabarrus College was accredited by the College Colleges College and Southern School Colleges Commission to earn an associate degree. In 1998 the North Carolina General Assembly bestowed to the College of authority to grant a bachelor's degree. In 2004, the General Assembly bestowed the authority of the College to award a higher degree in nursing or related health sciences.
College Growth requires the construction of new facilities in 2004 at the CMC-NorthEast campus in Concord. Enrollment in High School has more than doubled since 2000, and applications for entry have increased 61% since 2003.
