Knockout and Knockouts Haircuts for Men are the trade names of the private American salon network (international in early 2011), Knockouts LLC, based in Irving, Texas. Knockout is a full-service salon with the theme of boxing (and mixed martial arts)/sex that targets men looking for an alternative to discounted salon. The Today Show (NBC TV), The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch (CNBC) and other media have compared the Knockout to Hooters restaurant to the sex appeal/entertainment angle used to engage customers, labeling Knockouts "the Hooters of Haircutting." The salon has a gym-like decoration/barn with postal posts and faux boxing ropes and brick walls that help define space, as well as photos and memorabilia of boxing on the walls. There is a flat-screen television at each treatment station and in the lounge. These are usually set for sports programs, but are individually controlled by the customer.

Knockout employs an all-female staff of interest from licensed hairdressers and massage therapists. These services include haircuts, hair coloring, waxing, manicures, pedicures, and six types of massage therapy. Treatment products are also available for purchase. Some locations also offer hair replacement and facial shaves. Artificial salons provide free drinks to customers while they wait, including water, sports drinks, and beer (if permitted by law). Knockouts has sold more than 500 franchised salons in 29 states.

Knockouts Girls

A Knockouts Girl is a licensed Cosmetologist and/or Barber or licensed Massage Therapist employed by Knockouts salons. They can be identified with their uniforms, featuring white or red cotton tops with Knockout logo on the front paired with short satin boxing shorts. There are shorts and other shirts that can be worn together, or paired with clothes that are more suitable for cold weather. The company also uses colors and other designs for superiors, such as jersey or other athletic clothing. The rest of the uniform consists of white socks "deflated" and white athletic shoes.

Promotions

Knockouts has partnered with AX, a division of Unilever. This is a co-branding program in which male AX care products are used, sampled, and sold at Knockout salons, and Knockouts Girls wear t-shirts with company logos and slogans. The companies believe AX's "Hair Crisis Aid: Get AX approved girls" deal matches the sporty/sexy Knockout image.

Knockouts currently sponsors the NASCAR series of racing teams consisting of drivers Bret Guzik and Matt Barndt, as well as Dawson Guzik, a racer at the American Motocross Association. Knockouts has sponsored Indiana Ice from the Hockey League of the United States and a mixture of martial arts fighter Michelle Waterson.

The Knockouts Girls and Executive Team of Knockouts LLC give annually to the less fortunate orphans around the world. They also sponsor foster parents who provide full-time care for these small children until suitable homes can be found for them. In addition, Knockouts Girls donate their time and energy to charity events sponsored by nonprofit organizations. Knockouts supports the National Childhood Cancer Foundation and St. Baldrick's Foundation, which raises money for research to combat cancer in children.

Knockout has also been featured on Your World with Neil Cavuto (Fox TV) as well as a number of local television and other print media. Specially selected Knockouts Girls appear in the calendar sold in salons, but all Knockouts Girls make a public appearance to promote their salons, brands, and charities.
