In alternative medicine, bodywork is a therapeutic or personal development technique that involves working with the human body in a form involving manipulative therapy, breathing exercises, or energy treatments. Bodywork techniques also aim to assess or improve posture, raise awareness of "bodymind connection" rather than "mind-body connection", or to manipulate the electromagnetic fields surrounding the human body and affect health.

Form
Some of the most popular forms of non-touch bodywork methods include: reiki, yoga, pranayama, as well as other non-touch methods: breathing breathing techniques, therapeutic touch, Bates methods for vision training, qigong, and t'ai chi.
The more recognizable forms of manipulative bodywork include the Bowen technique, chiropractic, craniosacral therapy, reflexology, Rolfing, postural integration, shiatsu, and the Trager approach. There are also some methods that use light touch (not network work) to re-train movement patterns or alter body awareness, including Alexander's technique, Feldenkrais method, Hakomi method, integrative body psychotherapy, and somatic experience.
