The Touro University of Nevada ( TUN ) is a nonprofit private education and professional institution, in Henderson, in the state of Nevada USA. TUN is part of The Touro College and University System, which includes Touro College located in Manhattan and New York Medical College, accredited by the Commission of Middle States for Higher Education as well as Touro University, which includes both Touro University California and Touro University Nevada, accredited by the Association of Schools and Western Colleges. Touro University Nevada is a branch campus of its sister campus Touro University California located in Mare Island, California.

History
Touro University Nevada was established to help address important needs in health care and education, and as a resource for community service in Nevada. Private non-profit, Jewish-sponsored institution, affiliated with the international higher education system, the university opened in 2004 with 78 medical students. Touro University Nevada is home to over 1,300 students in various degree programs in osteopathic medicine, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant studies, camp administration and education. Many of these programs are the first of its kind in Nevada. The College of Osteopathic Medicine is Nevada's first osteopathic medical school and medical school of both states.

Accreditation
The College of Osteopathic Medicine at Touro University Nevada is accredited by the American Osteopathic Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA). Touro University Nevada has also received accreditation from the Nevada Commission on Postsecondary Education, the American Commission of Physical Therapy Association for Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education, and the Accreditation Council of the Occupational Therapy Association of America for Occupational Therapy Education.

Community resources
Disabled People's Center and Disabled Development Developed to meet the evolving needs of the community, the Autism and Disability Center The development of Touro University Nevada is a multi-disciplinary, one-stop source for diagnostic, therapeutic and support services for families dealing with autism and developmental disorders others. This team approach provides individual care programs based on the individual needs of the child. The center also serves as a learning laboratory for students across disciplines.
Active Centers of Aging - Expected to break down in December 2013, the clinic will provide special care for the local geriatric population.
Touro Health Center The University also recently opened its first full-service patient clinic, staffed by members of the faculty of practice and open to the public. Medical clinics provide on-site learning opportunities for students, as well as places for future clinical research trials. An expanded patient clinic is planned for the next stage of building a university.
Physical Therapy Clinic Recently, Touro University Nevada opened a free physical therapy clinic run by a TUN physical therapy student overseen by a licensed physical therapy faculty.
Graduated medical education
Touro University Nevada is an academic sponsor of the postgraduate medical residency program at Valley Hospital, providing training opportunities for Touro students and post-graduate education for medical residents.
The program currently includes 16 traditional apprentices - slots for first-year trainees who will eventually develop into other specialties; the largest single internal single drug residency program in the osteopathic medical profession (45 slots); family medical residency program, orthopedic surgical residency program, ophthalmology residency program, the only dermatology residency program, and a neurological residency program.
Touro University Nevada receives a $ 1.2 million state grant to finance a one-year geriatric medical scholarship. The program is expected to be launched in July 2017.
Research
The University of Touro Nevada faculty specializes in a variety of basic and applied research in areas including: autism, cardiovascular physiology, cell biology, evolutionary biology, infectious diseases, neuroscience, osteopathic manipulative drugs, oncology, regenerative medicine, and women's health. Research conducted at Touro University Nevada has been funded by a grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Trust Schultz Engel Purpose.
Facilities
To accommodate growth and focus resources on academic needs, Touro University Nevada buys two flexible shell buildings that exist within Henderson's Black Mountain Business Parks. Touro University Nevada currently occupies the first 142,000 sqÃ, ft (13,200m 2 ) building with classrooms and laboratories, offices, university libraries, public spaces and clinics. The university will more than double its space with the next expansion of building one, adding 165,000 square feet (15,300 m 2 ). The two buildings currently occupied by renters rent, and hold 200,000 sq ft (19,000 m 2 ) space that universities can use for growth.
