A physical therapeutic practice is a law that defines the scope and practice of physical therapy within the jurisdiction, outlines the licensing requirements for Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants, and establishes penalties for violation of the law. In the United States, each country implements its own practice, generating some variation between states, although the Federation of State Councils of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) has devised a model definition to limit this variation.

The FSBPT published the fifth edition of this document in 2011.
