Michael Lohan (born April 25, 1960) is an American television character, best known as the father of actress Lindsay Lohan.

Personal life
Lohan married Dina, a former singer and dancer, on November 2, 1985. Dina and Michael Lohan had four children: Lindsay's daughter (born July 2, 1986) and Aliana (born December 22, 1993), and son Michael, Jr. (born 1987) and Dakota "Cody" (born June 16, 1996). The parents parted when their daughter, Lindsay was three years old, and then reunited. Dina filed for divorce in January 2005. In August 2007, the former couple announced a final divorce settlement had been reached, with a divorce scheduled to be completed three months later. Dina was granted custody of their two youngest children, Ali and Cody.
On June 30, 2008, Lohan submitted DNA samples for paternity tests after Montana massage therapist Kristi Kaufmann Horn claimed he was very close to Michael in 1995 when he was separated from Dina, and fathered his daughter, Ashley Horn. The Montana court then ruled that Lohan was Ashley's real father, and his name was added to his birth certificate. The results of paternity were revealed during his performance at Trisha where Lohan reunited with Kaufmann when meeting Horn for the first time.
Lohan and former tabloid reporter Kate Major was engaged to Easter weekend in 2010. They then broke up, but their continuing relationship, marked by the conflict, is depicted in the fifth season of the reality TV series VH1, Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew. i, who documented Lohan's rehabilitation for alcoholism, which he said began in 1982. In 1990, Lohan was investigated for insider trading and was convicted of criminal defamation of the court. He was sentenced to three years in prison in Nassau County, and released in 1993 on a five-year probation. During this time, her daughter Lindsay had started modeling for Ford Model agency and starred in commercials, and by the time she was released in 1993, she was at the peak of her career.
In 1997, Lohan was arrested when he broke his probation after flying to Napa, California to visit his daughter Lindsay, who had been hospitalized for an asthma attack that occurred during the filming. He then served a year in prison.
After Lindsay became a movie star, the tension appeared in the family. This conflict gets to the head when Dina's youngest brother, Matt Sullivan, fights outside the Long Island Lohan home during the first communion party on May 23, 2004 for their son, Dakota.
