The Emory University School of Medicine is the Graduate Medical School of Emory University and is part of the Health Sciences Center of Robert W. Woodruff in Emory. Located on the university's premier campus in the Druid Hills neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia. Medical schools offer Doctor of Medicine degree programs, Master's programs in Anesthesiology and Genetic Counseling, Physical Therapy degrees and Physician Assistant training, joint degree courses with other Emory graduate divisions, medical education graduates, and continuing medical education. Emory University School of Medicine traces its origins back to 1915 when Atlanta Medical College (founded 1854), Southern Medical College (1878), and Atlanta School of Medicine (founded 1905) merged.

Registration and community
By 2017, incoming classes of 143 medical students come from 65 different colleges and have an average GPA of 3.7 and an average MCAT of 514. In the class entering 2017, 57% of students are girls, 8% is MD/PhD. , 15% are MD/MPH, the median age in matriculation is 23.6 with a range of 21 to 31. 3 of the students (2%) are non-US/permanent citizens of Germany, Jamaica and Turkey. 69% of the classes are non-traditional students, meaning that they take at least 1 year out of college before matriculation.
After matriculation, medical students are divided into four communities where they participate in small group learning exercises that encourage differential diagnostic skills, clinical skills, and professional development. The community was named after four historic physicians who made a significant contribution to the practice of medical science during their lifetime.

Curriculum
The curriculum has a thick pre-clinical learning phase in which students cover basic medical science in 1.5 years. Students usually take USMLE Step 1 in February of their second year enabling them to start their medical stewardship phase at the hospital affiliated with Emory. The unique curriculum design allows for a 5-month Discovery Phase in the third year that encourages students to pursue research in areas related to medicine including basic science, medical translation, clinical research, public health, among others. The Emory University School of Medicine offers a range of double degree programs including MD-Master in Public Health, MD-Master in Clinical Research, MD-Master in Business Administration, MD-MA in Bioethics, and MD-PhD (PhD can be completed through the Graduate School Laney Emory University, Rollins Public Health School, or Georgia Institute of Technology).

The School of Medicine is located on Emory University's main campus in the Druid Hills section of Atlanta and at Emory-owned and affiliated medical facilities throughout Atlanta metropolitan including Grady Memorial Hospital, Emory University Hospital, Midtown Emory University Hospital, Veterans Medical Center Atlanta and Atlanta Children's Health Care. Many of these hospitals are part of Emory Healthcare. The affiliated research institutions include the Yerkes National Primary Research Center and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Ratings
In the 2017-2018 ranking of the best medical schools in the United States, US. News and Reports place the Emory University School of Medicine at # 23 in research and # 34 in primary care. The same publication also placed Emory at # 24 for Clinical Medicine at its World Universities ranking in the same year. The Times World University Ranking College places Medical School at # 36 in the world for Clinical/Pre-clinical and Health in the 2017-2018 ranking list.
