Web Therapy is an American comedy series aired in Showtime on July 19, 2011. It is based on a web series with the same name and star Lisa Kudrow as Fiona Wallice, a working therapist with patients via the Internet.

Web Therapy initially received mixed reviews from critics but has since received more positive reviews, with many critics praising Kudrow's performance.

On August 11, 2015, Showtime canceled the series after four seasons.

Production

In April 2010, Showtime announced plans to run an online episode on television with additional scenes taken to fit the half hour format. The TV version was given 10 episodes half an hour for its first season. Casting

At Rotten Tomatoes, the first season of the event has a 45% rating, based on 11 reviews, with an average rating of 5/10. The consensus of the site reads, " Web Therapy is quickly losing the greeting by not giving a consistent laugh or a full-energy plot." Sal Cinquemani from Slant Magazine says "The often painful Web Therapy is almost totally dependent on dialogue and acting." Mary McNamara of Los Angeles Times gave the season a positive review, saying the show was "innovative and funny". The guest appearances, such as Lily Tomlin and Meryl Streep, have received praise.

The second season received critical acclaim, scoring 83 out of 100 on Metacritic, with many critics praising the chemistry between Kudrow and the guest star event. Jessica Shaw of Entertainment Weekly praised the writing: "Lisa Kudrow is funny like shrinking online Fiona Wallice, but her true talent makes people around her more funny". Curt Wagner of Red Eye praised the players' improvised skills, writing: "It's mostly improvisation, which makes a funny exchange between Kudrow and its guest stars even more impressive." Mark A. Perigard of The Boston Herald gave the show a positive review during a joint review of Web Therapy and a former colleague of Kudo Friends , Matt LeBlanc's show Episodes , calling it "much more entertaining [than Episode ], but, unfortunately, very unevenly, perhaps partly because of the need to weave new material around the Internet series of the same name that spawned it.

DVD release

Web Therapy: The Complete First Season was released on DVD in Region 1 on June 19, 2012, and in Region 4 on August 7, 2013. The two disk sets contained 10 episodes of season one.

Web Therapy: Complete Second Season was released in Region 1 DVD on June 18, 2013. Two floppy disks contained all 11 episodes of season two, plus an unpublished episode named "Royally F *** * d", where Fiona got her first international client (Natasha Bedingfield) calling from Buckingham Palace. Special features include behind-the-scenes featurette, cutting director with Conan O'Brien and Meryl Streep, auto-tune music videos, deleted scenes, and gag reel.

International version

On 2 February 2016, FremantleMedia launched a remake of the series on Spanish television, also titled Web Therapy . It aired on # 0, the flagship channel of the Movistar subscription platform. It's Eva Hache's star as Rebeca Miller, the equivalent of Fiona Wallice in the original series.

On August 29, 2017, it was announced that Stephen Mangan would star & amp; co-write an English adaptation titled Hang Ups for Channel 4 in the UK. This is set to premiere in 2018.
