Southeastern Community College is a community college with its main campus located between Chadbourn, NC and Whiteville, NC in Columbus County, North Carolina. It celebrates the 50th anniversary of 2014. It is fully accredited by the College Commission of the South High School and School Association to grant certificates, diplomas and associate degrees. The student population of the school is 2870.

Columbus College Career and Academy

The fairly new program offered by Southeastern allows students to start high school on the campus of Fair Bluff, NC. At the end of their ninth grade year, students may choose to focus on technical or college-based pathways.

History

Chartered on February 6, 1964, Southeastern Community College (SCC) is a comprehensive community community college that provides educational, cultural and social opportunities accessible to adults.

More than 100 certificates of arts curriculum work, diplomas and degrees are offered by universities. Small classes, high quality, and student services, such as counseling and guidance, help students realize their potential. More than 2,600 students enroll in the SCC credit scheme program each year.

SCC provides continuous education programs throughout Columbus County, serving more than 8,000 students annually. Through campus, enriching cultural events are brought to the area, and community service is provided to citizens of all ages.

The 246-acre campus is on the Chadbourn Highway between Whiteville and Chadbourn in southeast of North Carolina. SCC is an hour's drive from historic towns of Wilmington and Fayetteville, North Carolina, as well as the beaches of North and South Carolina.

Student Club

SGA

The Student Government Association (SGA) provides avenues for student participation in the organization and leadership of student-related campus activities. SGA sponsors special events including dances, field days, student competitions, and cooking events. It also provides funding for other student and athletic organizations. The student senator is elected annually from the student body. Under state law, the SGA president is a non-voting member of the College's Supervisory Board.

Art Club

The Art Club visits exhibitions and museums, displays and sells the work of members at the exhibition, and invites artists and craftsmen for demonstrations and workshops.

Athletics

Sports Interollegiate SCC is a men's baseball and women's volleyball and softball ball. The eligibility requirements are defined by the National Junior College Athletic Association. In addition, colleges can offer intramural or club-level sports.

Lecture Choir

The College Choir features popular and sacred music for choir and solo sound. The College Choir has performed at local concerts and as far as New York, Florida, Washington, D.C., London, and Puerto Rico.

Klub Kosmetologi

The Cosmetology Club sponsors educational and travel programs to enhance learning in the classroom and to promote understanding between cosmetologists and the public.

Creative Writing Club

The Creative Writing Club promises to promote and advance the craft of student writers. Assembling monthly to test poetry, fiction, and stage and scenario techniques, members create forums to read and discuss directly from original and published works. Emphasis is placed on craft, shipping, audience awareness, and the publishing industry. The Creative Writing Club also edits, publishes and markets Aries, an art and literature lecture journal.

Criminal Justice Club

The club promotes fellowship among club members and contacts with other communities and institutions and seeks to develop new concepts that will improve the criminal justice system.

Early Childhood Leadership Club

Environmental Action Club

The club is organized to promote the conservation and conservation of all wildlife, to increase the level of public awareness of threats to wildlife, to promote and protect the growth of native trees and wildflowers, to encourage fellowship among all sports and environmental activists, to engage students in services civil, and to bring the spirit of communication with all creation. The club is made up of students, faculty, and interested staff.

Forestry Club

Forestry students enjoy recreational opportunities and services through this club, which promote the social and economic aspects of forestry through education programs and activities and build a sense of professionalism and responsibility in their members. Activities usually include an annual poster contest which provides scholarships for students every semester.

Massage Therapy Club

The Massage Therapy Club promotes awareness of therapeutic massage and its benefits in the community and utilizes students from the Massage Therapy Program as a positive and professional example of program and career.

Medical Lab Technician Club

MLT Club provides members with up-to-date issues in the profession, promotes public awareness of the profession, provides funding for MLT scholarships and supports social activities for MLT students. MLT and pre-MLT students are encouraged to join.

Men Mentoring Men

Men Mentoring Men is a free program that gives minority men the opportunity to engage in meaningful and constructive initiatives to enhance their academic experience.

National Student Nurse Association

The National Student Nurse Association serves as a communication hub with district, state, and national nursing associations. Organizations encourage nursing students to promote and maintain high educational and professional standards. Practical Nursing students who intend to proceed to the ADN program in the future and Associate Degree Nursing students are encouraged but not required to join the NSNA.

Phi Beta Lambda

Phi Beta Lambda is the FBLA college division - America's Future Business Leader. PBL offers many opportunities in leadership, community service, and competitive events. We participate in various projects and businesses at national, state and local levels. We organize community service projects, attend state and national leadership conferences and workshops and have the opportunity to connect with Colleges and Universities from across the United States. Anyone interested in business can join the PBL. Attend a meeting for more information.

Phi Theta Kappa

College transfers and technical students collect an average grade of 3.5 or better on at least 12 semester hours are eligible to be nominated for national honorary academic community Phi Theta Kappa for junior students. This chapter recognizes academic excellence and sponsored service projects.

Klub Sains

The organization encourages students' interest in science and provides opportunities for students and faculty to share their interests. Full-time students at the Associate in Science Program are eligible for SCC Science Club Scholarships for their first and second years in the program. Activities usually include meetings with visiting scientists as guest lecturers; field trip "real life related science"; interaction with science students from neighboring institutions; and participation in projects, such as Earth Day activities, which help colleges and local communities.

Student Publication

Aries, an SCC publication, gives college students and community members the opportunity to express their ideas and creativity. It contains the writings and artworks of SCC students, faculty and staff, and citizens. The SCC English instructor coordinates and advises this project.

Small business center

The College operates a small business center in Brunswick, NC designed to work with businesses, civil leaders and other civil groups to help small businesses in four Bladen County, NC, Brunswick County, NC, Columbus County, NC and Robeson County, NC counties. A 36-hour continuous education program entitled REAL-Rural Entrepreneurship through Action Learning is available to help entrepreneurs.

Resource Libraries and Micro Business Loan Programs are also available. Seminars and workshops are also available.
